ACIS breaks into North America with its first RTPI order
ACIS has gained its first North American contract this month for extending and upgrading the RTI transport solutions of Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA).
Martha's Vineyard, an island of 17,000 population which swells to 75,000+ in the summer. It is located 6 miles off of Massachusetts' south coast. The island's economy is 54+% tourism with a year on year extending season from Easter through October. As it is an island, the great majority of these visitors arrive on ferries or cruise ships and then take Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) buses to the towns, the many beaches, and nature reserves.
The VTA is planning on extending their real time system to offer passenger info on the web, SMS, and through strategically placed displays (Rivelin and the Dartford Commercial TFT) at the ferry terminals, main bus interchange, and at the airport.
ACIS engineers will be travelling to the Vineyard in October 2007 to plan the rollout and installation. All of which needs to be complete by Easter ready for when the tourists return.
