ACIS to deliver real time vehicle tracking for Manchester Airport car parking

ACIS has delivered a real time information (RTI) vehicle tracking solution for all Manchester Airport landside buses to assist in the transportation of passengers and staff to and from the airport terminal buildings and its car parks. This solution also includes a fully integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) driver tagging system, enabling greater levels of control of the driver staff and also providing an automatic driver log-on facility to speed up the whole process.

The ACIS real time bus information will help improve fleet punctuality and enable transparency across the fixed timetable system retrospectively in operation at the Airport; with the objective of increasing passenger confidence and satisfaction, and providing a better quality service. Manchester Airport will also be able to monitor and more accurately manage its own bus operations from one central control room location.

In addition to this, Manchester Airport can now use ACIS’ Operator Reporting System to generate accurate and reliable management reporting information on vehicle mileage for auditing purposes and also to maximise the benefit of available fuel duty rebate for the land side bus routes; previously very difficult to obtain a reliable audit source for these services.

Manchester Airports’ Bussing Operations Managers now also have instant access and visibility through ACIS’ RTPI System and Vehicle Viewer products, of their 16 strong ‘Land Side’ bus fleet as well as other system managers and bus drivers being fully trained across other relevant areas of the ACIS integrated system. Passengers will eventually be provided with on-route displays as well as ‘On-Vehicle’ announcements and infotainment displays.
